The Henderson County Lady Colonels picked up a 69-47 road victory over the Mt. Carmel (IL) Golden Aces on Monday night.
Henderson led 17-11 after the first quarter and extended the advantage to 37-26 by halftime. The Lady Colonels continued to pull away in the second half, taking a 51-37 lead into the fourth quarter on their way to the 22-point win.
Henderson did an excellent job taking care of the basketball, committing a season-low seven turnovers, while forcing Mt. Carmel into 17. The Lady Colonels also won the rebounding battle 33-30.
A’Tylia Green led the way with 17 points and four rebounds. Addy Gish posted a season-high 13 points to go along with four rebounds. Jersey Gardner finished with 11 points and two boards, while Callie Burnett added nine points and three rebounds. Maggee Melvin chipped in a career-high nine points and three rebounds, and Nevaeh Dixon had four points and a team-high seven rebounds.
Henderson shot 3-of-4 from the free-throw line and 4-of-16 from three-point range. Mt. Carmel went 10-of-16 at the line and 3-of-9 from beyond the arc.
With the win, Henderson improves to 8-6 and returns to action Friday night at 6 p.m. in a district matchup on the road at Webster County.
