Henderson fell on the road to the Marshall County Lady Marshals Saturday afternoon, 47-41.
Henderson led 11-7 after the first quarter behind two three-pointers from Jersey Gardner and forcing several early turnovers. The Lady Colonels trailed 18-17 at the half, managing just two made baskets in the second quarter as Addy Gish went to the bench early with two fouls.
Marshall County extended its lead to 32-23 after three, scoring eight straight to close the period. Henderson got within four points a couple of times late but couldn’t get any closer.
Rebounding proved to be a key factor as Marshall County won the boards 32-22. Henderson committed 10 turnovers compared to 21 by the Lady Marshals.
A’Tylia Green led Henderson with 15 points, though she made just one field goal in the first three quarters. Jersey Gardner finished with nine points on three made three-pointers. Addy Gish had six points and three rebounds. Maggee Melvin added four points and two rebounds. Callie Burnett chipped in four points and two rebounds. JaNyla Locher had three points and six rebounds, while Kenlee Evans recorded two rebounds and two blocks.
Henderson County (13-8) is back in action Tuesday at 6 p.m. at home against Webster County.
