The Henderson County Coroner’s Office has identified the person killed in a train accident that occurred in Robards on Monday afternoon as 25-year-old Dillon Jones of Henderson.
Authorities said that Jones was operating a 2008 Ford Crown Victoria that he drove into the path of a northbound train. The vehicle was struck on the driver’s side and Jones was killed on impact.
Authorities said that railroad crossing is not equipped with warning lights or crossing arms.
A father and son from Florida were killed at another crossing without warning lights or crossing arms in the Robards area last fall. That crossing was at Cherry Hill and Robards-Busby Station Road.
The Henderson County Sheriff’s Office, Robards and Niagara fire departments, Henderson City-County Rescue, Deaconess EMS and the Henderson County Coroner’s Office all responded to Monday’s fatal train collision.
