Henderson County crushed the Union County Bravettes 71-16 Friday night in Morganfield. With the win, Henderson earned the top seed for the 6th District Tournament, which begins February 23 at Webster County High School, and more importantly secured an automatic berth in the 2nd Region Tournament the following week.

Henderson’s defense forced several early turnovers, leading to breakaway baskets and a 29-4 lead after one quarter. The Lady Colonels led 55-7 at halftime, enforcing the mercy-rule running clock for the entire second half.

Addy Gish led the way with 15 points. A’Tylia Green had 14. Maggee Melvin finished with 9. Seventh-grader Kenley Evans turned in the best game of her young varsity career with 8 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 blocks. JaNyla Locher scored 7. Rideout had 6. Pacey Parker added 4. Callie Burnett, Bella Estabrook, and Peyton London each scored 2.

The Lady Colonels are back in action Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. (CT) at Mercy Academy in Louisville, taking on Sacred Heart.
