Lady Colonels Mash McLean 74-36

Henderson County defeated the McLean County Lady Cougars 74-36 Monday night at Colonel Gym.

Coming off a slow start in a loss to Sacred Heart on Saturday, Henderson came out on fire, scoring the first 13 points of the game and forcing 10 McLean turnovers in the opening quarter. JaNyla Locher poured in 12 first-quarter points as the Lady Colonels raced out to a 29-6 lead.

Henderson did not allow a made field goal in the second quarter and extended the advantage to 48-10 at halftime. The entire second half was played with a running clock.

Henderson controlled the glass 34-16. McLean finished with 18 turnovers, while Henderson had 15, most coming after the starters left midway through the third quarter. The Lady Colonels shot 6-of-9 from the free throw line and 6-of-13 from three-point range. McLean shot 13-of-16 from the line and 3-of-13 from beyond the arc.

Locher led the way with 14 points and 1 rebound. Addy Gish had 11 points and 3 rebounds. Kenley Evans added 10 points and 4 rebounds. A’Tylia Green finished with 9 points and 3 rebounds. Callie Burnett had 8 points and 6 rebounds. Nevaeh Dixon scored 7 points with 3 rebounds. Maggee Melvin added 5 points and 2 rebounds. Jersey Gardner had 4 points and 5 rebounds. Estelle Erbst finished with 4 points and 1 rebound, and McKinley Black added 2 points and 2 rebounds.

Henderson improves to 16-9, while McLean County falls to 16-8.

The Lady Colonels are back in action Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. on the road at Lyon County.
