Henderson County picked up a region road win Tuesday night in Eddyville, defeating Lyon County 65-58.
Henderson jumped out to a 22-14 first-quarter lead behind 13 points from A’Tylia Green while forcing 10 Lady Lyons turnovers in the opening period. Lyon trimmed the deficit to 31-26 at halftime and cut it to 42-40 after three.
Lyon County briefly took a one-point lead early in the fourth, but Henderson responded with a run to build an 11-point advantage with 5:05 remaining. The Lady Lyons answered with an 11-2 run to make it 56-54 with 3:10 to play, but JaNyla Locher took over down the stretch.
Locher scored 12 of her 14 points in the fourth quarter, going 6-for-6 at the free-throw line to seal the win.
Green finished with 24 points and 9 rebounds. Locher added 14 points and 7 rebounds. Maggee Melvin posted 9 points and 9 rebounds, Callie Burnett had 9 and 4, Addy Gish chipped in 5 and 5, and Nevaeh Dixon finished with 4 points and 3 rebounds.
Henderson improves to 17-9, while Lyon County falls to 19-6.
The Lady Colonels are back in action Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at home against Crittenden County.
