Henderson County defeated the Muhlenberg County Mustangs 68-58 Monday night at Colonel Gym in the Colonels’ regular season home finale.
Henderson led 17-15 after one, 33-25 at halftime, and 52-35 after three.
The Colonels shot 10-14 from the free throw line and 4-14 from three. Muhlenberg County went 3-7 from the line and 7-17 from beyond the arc. Henderson controlled the glass 33-24. Turnovers were nearly even with Henderson committing 15 and the Mustangs 16.
Henderson got a big night from Amare Stewart and strong bench production, combining for 22 points. Stewart finished with 20 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 blocks. Xavion Johnson added 16 points and 6 rebounds. Braden Williams had 8. Wyatt Townsend 7. Zayden Martin 6. MaLaikye Taylor 4 points and 6 rebounds. Mikey Woolfork 4. Zeph Thomas 3.
Henderson (22-4) closes the regular season Friday night at Owensboro.
