Henderson County edged the Owensboro Catholic Lady Aces 63-60 in overtime Tuesday night at Colonel Gym in the Lady Colonels’ home finale.
Playing their final home game, Addy Gish and A’Tylia Green helped lead a late comeback. Henderson trailed by eight early in the fourth quarter before rallying. With time winding down, Gish knocked down a game-tying three at the fourth-quarter buzzer to make it 59-59, off an offensive rebound and assist from JaNyla Locher, sending the game to overtime.
Owensboro Catholic led 13-11 after the first quarter. The game was tied 26-26 at halftime, and the Lady Aces led 46-41 after three.
Henderson went 13-20 from the free-throw line and 6-17 from three-point range. Owensboro Catholic finished 13-23 at the line and 5-15 from beyond the arc. The Lady Aces won the rebounding battle 36-32. Turnovers favored Henderson slightly, with Catholic committing 23 to Henderson’s 20.
Green led the Lady Colonels with 20 points and 6 rebounds. Gish added 15 points and 3 rebounds, scoring 11 of her points after the third quarter. Jersey Gardner had 11 points and 2 rebounds. Callie Burnett finished with 10 points and 4 rebounds. Locher had 4 points and 3 assists. Maggee Melvin added 3 points and 7 rebounds.
Henderson County (19-9) closes the regular season Thursday at 6 p.m. at Murray State University’s CFSB Center against Calloway County (28-1).
