
The Webster County Lady Trojans advanced to the 6th District Championship with a 43-26 victory over the Union County Bravettes Monday night in Dixon.
Webster led 7-4 after the opening quarter and extended the margin to 20-12 by halftime. The Lady Trojans pushed the lead to 10 early in the third before Union responded with a 7-0 run to trim the deficit to three. Webster answered immediately with seven straight points to regain control and entered the fourth quarter ahead by double digits on the way to the win.
Head coach Jesse Reeves called it the most complete performance of the season for his team.
Webster shot 5-6 from the free-throw line and 4-9 from three-point range, while Union finished 8-13 at the line and 0-9 from beyond the arc. The Lady Trojans controlled the boards 38-27. Union committed 19 turnovers to Webster’s 16.
Josie Cardwell led Webster with 14 points and 4 rebounds. Addison Wright added 8 points and 14 rebounds. Ella Rakestraw scored 7, Alyssa Cartwright had 6 points and 2 rebounds, and Sylvania Torres contributed 5 points and 8 rebounds off the bench.
Webster County will host the Henderson County Lady Colonels Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m. in the 6th District Championship.
