Henderson Police have arrested a man following reports of gunfire and a short foot pursuit over the weekend.
At approximately 1:20 a.m. Saturday, officers responded to the area of Blue Ridge Drive regarding reports of gunshots and several individuals screaming.
Witnesses and area surveillance footage identified a white Dodge Charger fleeing the scene at a high rate of speed immediately following the discharge of a firearm. Police said the agency has not received any reports of injuries or damage in the area.
Officers later located the vehicle near Kentucky 2084 and Clay Street and attempted a traffic stop. The driver, identified as 22-year-old Adrian Posey, fled on foot.
During the pursuit, Posey fell multiple times, resulting in a dislocated shoulder and various abrasions.
Following a brief foot pursuit, Posey was taken into custody. A search of his person revealed a significant amount of cash. Additionally, officers observed the following items in plain view within the vehicle:
- An assault rifle (located on the passenger seat)
- Marijuana and drug paraphernalia
- An open container of alcohol
A search warrant for the vehicle has been issued to facilitate a more thorough investigation.
After receiving medical treatment at a local hospital for his injuries, Posey was transported to the Henderson County Detention Center.
He was arrested on the following charges: first-degree fleeing or evading police (on foot), trafficking in marijuana (less than eight ounces; second offence), operating a motor vehicle under the influence, second-degree disorderly conduct, possession of an open container in motor vehicle prohibited.
