The City of Henderson has received one of T-Mobile’s Hometown Grants.

Henderson received a $27,620 grant to replace the playground surface at Central Park with poured-in-place rubber, enhancing safety and providing a welcoming community gathering space.

This project was selected from more than 900 applicants this past quarter, and it is one of 11 Hometown Grants T-Mobile has provided across Kentucky since 2021 – totaling nearly $480,000, according to T-Mobile officials.

“Central Park is a one of our most popular recreational areas, so I am thrilled that we are able to make it even better with needed safety upgrades,” said City of Henderson Mayor Brad Staton. “I extend my gratitude to the team who is spearheading this project and to T-Mobile for the grant that is making it happen. These enhancements help ensure that the park remains a welcoming community gathering space for years to come.”

T-Mobile plans to make a check presentation during the City of Henderson Parks and Recreation Department’s Easter Egg Hunt, which begins at 10 a.m. Saturday at Newman Park.
