Betty Harper, age 103, of Henderson, KY, passed away at 2:45 a.m., Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Homeplace of Henderson surrounded by the love of her family.

Betty was born and raised in southern Illinois. She raised her family in Henderson and spent many years as a homemaker. Betty worked as a hairdresser and was a talented cook and seamstress.  She was a charter member of Hyland Baptist Church, was the first to be baptized there, and was recently honored as the oldest living member.

Betty spent her last few years being lovingly cared for by the staff of Homeplace of Henderson. The family will always be grateful for the staff that Betty considered family. Last, but not least, Betty adored her furry feline companion “Tiger”.

In addition to her parents John and Nelle Rogers, Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years Edward Harper; grandson Bradley Keith Riecken; siblings: Alberta Ann Harper, Kenneth Rogers, and Marilyn Williams; daughter in law Terri Harper; nieces Delores Ford and Margaret Harper.

Betty is survived by daughters: Janice Irene Kingery (Jeff) of Maricopa, AZ, Connie Sue Yates of Henderson, KY, and Larissa “Lisa” Schmidt (Ken) of Henderson, KY; son Lawrence “Larry” Edward Harper of Daylight, IN; grandchildren: Robert Abbott (Tracy), Chris Riecken, Alicia Roe (Greg), Michael Riecken (Melanie), Lance Harper, Barton Yates (Ericka), Meredith Yates, Andrea Sherrill (Zach), Alison Lankheit (Dave), Tess Austin (Chris), and Luke Harper (Sue Ann); great grandchildren: Todd, Jeremy, Nicholas, Zachary, Cory, Ashley, Ava, Jayden, Maddie, Katie, Sawyer, Conner, Eisley, and Trace; great great grandchildren Harper and Emerson; nieces and nephew: Lynn DeKemper (Danny), Becky Harper, and Dale Williams (Shelby).

Relatives and friends are invited to Betty’s Life Celebration from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 1, at Benton-Glunt & Tapp Funeral Home in Henderson, KY and again on Thursday from 9:00 until service time at Hyland Baptist Church in Henderson, KY. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at the church with the Reverend Kenny Kidd officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Henderson, KY.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to: Hyland Baptist Church, 1400 Wright St, Henderson, KY 42420.
