OWENSBORO, Ky. (April 3, 2026) – A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans to resume a cable maintenance project on the U.S. 231 William H. Natcher Bridge at the Ohio River crossing on Monday, April 13.
The project began last spring but was halted during the winter due to concerns for workers’ safety.
When the project resumes, the northbound side of the bridge will be blocked, with both north and southbound traffic utilizing the southbound lanes. This restriction will be in place from the 13.5 to 14.8-mile points.
That lane configuration is anticipated to last until June, with both lanes shifting to the southbound side of the bridge in late summer. The entire project is scheduled to be completed by September of 2026.
The William H. Natcher Bridge is a cable-stay structure that opened in 2002, linking eastern Daviess County in Kentucky to southern Spencer County in Indiana. Around 8,400 vehicles cross the bridge daily.
