HENDERSON, KY — The Board of Directors of the Ohio Valley Art League have appointed
Eric Smith as the organization’s new executive director.
Smith stepped into his role effective May 9, 2023. Smith, a native of the Tri-State, is a seasoned leader in the nonprofit sector and comes to OVAL
after a successful tenure as the executive director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwestern
Indiana. His passion for service, combined with his diverse experience in nonprofit leadership,
makes him an exceptional choice for leading OVAL into the future.
“We are excited to welcome Eric to the OVAL family,” said Stacey Howell, Chair of OVAL’s
Board of Directors. “His impressive background, leadership capabilities, and commitment to the
arts and the community align perfectly with our mission. We are confident that under his
stewardship, OVAL will continue to thrive and extend its impact throughout the tri-state area.”
Aside from his proven track record in nonprofit leadership, Smith is also a photographer, a
credential that strengthens his connection to the arts and adds a unique perspective to his new
role. His passion for the arts and dedication to community development is sure to serve the
Ohio Valley Art League and the wider community well.
In response to his appointment, Smith shared, “I am thrilled to join the OVAL team and look
forward to fostering an environment where the arts can flourish. I am passionate about
promoting creativity in our community and eager to strengthen OVAL’s presence in our area.”
As the new executive director, Smith will oversee all operations, programs, and strategic plans
for the Ohio Valley Art League. His leadership will be key in continuing OVAL’s successful
programming and in maintaining strong relationships with members, partners, and the
community.
