Henderson Lions has awarded $10,000 in scholarships to local 2023 high school graduates.
Nine Henderson County High School graduates and one Webster County High School graduate each received $1,000 scholarships during a recent Lions Club meeting.
Officials say that seven of the scholarships were given by the Lions Club. The other three scholarships were given through funds donated in honor of Lions Howard Moran and Dr. Alicia Canlas, and in memory of Dr. Tony Strawn.
Here are the 10 graduates who received scholarships:
- Madison Medley (Moran Scholarship)
- Ava Pruitt ( Canlas Scholarship)
- Dru Meadows (Strawn Memorial Scholarship)
- Maci Farley
- Madi McCormick
- Savannah Lacer
- Addie Clark
- Luke Dalton
- Hayden Tichenor
- Gracie Olson (Webster County)
The Lions Club raises money for the scholarships through the annual live one-night auction, the Lions Arts and Crafts Festival at Audubon State Park and sales of lemonade shake-ups at the Tri-Fest. The Lions are also involved in vision conservation programs in the community and grants to local non-profit organizations.
