2023 General Election Results: McKee and Whitt win local races

Polls closed at 6 p.m. Tuesday for the 2023 General Election.

There were two local races on the ballot in Henderson County.

In a special election to fill an unexpired term for Henderson County Commonwealth’s Attorney, Herb McKee Jr. received 7,971 votes to James R. “Bobby” Norris’ 4,522 votes.

Democrat McKee was appointed as the Henderson County Commonwealth’s Attorney after the previous Commonwealth’s Attorney Bill Markwell retired. Republican Norris serves as an assistant attorney in the Henderson County Attorney’s Office.

In a special election to fill an unexpired term for the Henderson City Commission, Nick Whitt received 3,131 votes to Dwight Williams 2,719 votes.

The Henderson City Commission appointed Whitt to fill an unexpired term earlier this year after the commissioner who was elected declined to be sworn in. Both Whitt and Williams ran for the Henderson City Commission in 2022 but neither were elected in the last election cycle.

The Henderson City Commission Race is a nonpartisan race. Whitt is a Democrat. Williams is a Republican.
