Henderson County Schools is releasing students early on Friday, Jan. 12, 2024.
The school system issued a OneCall to parents and guardians on Friday morning announcing the early dismissal of students. In the OneCall, Superintendent Dr. Bob Lawson said that the National Weather Service was predicting severe weather for the region Friday afternoon, with possible strong wind gusts occurring around dismissal time.
Lawon continued, “As a proactive measure, we will have an early dismissal. Our elementary schools will dismiss at 12 p.m. And our secondary schools will dismiss at 1 p.m. Childcare will remain open.”
He also announced that there would be no afterschool activities or events on Friday evening.
Neighboring county Union County Public Schools cancelled classes this morning.
