The Henderson County Lady Colonels faced off against the Livingston Central Lady Cardinals in the Semifinals of the 2nd Region Softball Tournament in Hopkinsville last night.

In the bottom of the 1st inning, the Lady Colonels would score 2 runs in the inning, 1 run on back to back solo home runs, one by senior first baseman Taylor Troutman and one from senior catcher Hallie McCracken, as the Lady Colonels would have an early 2-0 lead heading into the top of the 2nd.

In the bottom of the 3rd inning, the Lady Colonels would load the bases on a single and 2 walks and with 1 out freshman shortstop Maggie Grogan would launch a grand slam to left field to extend the Lady Colonels lead to 6-0 heading into the top of the 4th.

In the bottom of the 5th inning, the Lady Colonels would score 3 runs on a 1 out 3 runs home run by sophomore Mackenzie Burczyk to push the Lady Colonels lead to 9-0 heading into the top of the 6th.

The Lady Colonels would hold the Lady Cardinals to 0 runs heading into the bottom of the 6th. In the bottom of the 6th, the Lady Colonels senior first baseman Taylor Troutman on a 1-1 count would hit a ball down the right field line and hit her 2nd solo home run of the day to walk and give the Lady Colonels a 10-0 win in 6 innings due the 10 run rule. The Lady Colonels improve to (31-5) on the season while the Lady Cardinals season ends with a (32-5) record.

Lady Colonel’s senior first baseman Taylor Troutman was 3 for 4 with a double, 2 home runs, and 2 RBI’s while senior catcher Hallie McCracken was 3 for 3 with a double, a home run, and 1 RBI. Sophomore second baseman Ayden Bennett was 2 for 2 while sophomore Mackenzie Burczyk was 1 for 3 with a home run and 3 RBI’s. Freshman shortstop Maggie Grogan was 1 for 2 with a grand slam and 4 RBI’s on the night.

Lady Colonels junior pitcher Anna Kemp in 6 innings allowed 2 hits and 0 earned runs while walking 3 batters and recording 10 strikeouts on the night.

As a team, the Lady Colonels scored 10 runs and recorded 10 hits, 10 RBI’s, 2 doubles, 5 home runs, 3 stolen bases, and committed 1 error on the night.

The Lady Colonels will face off against the Union County Bravettes tonight in Hopkinsville at Christian County High School in the 2nd Region Softball Tournament Championship Game with the first pitch set for 6:00 P.M.
