The Henderson Lions Club awarded scholarships to 11 Henderson County High School graduates during its most recent meeting.
Lions Scholarship Committee Chair Cory Bridges awarded a $1,000 scholarship to each graduated senior.
Several of the scholarships were given in honor or in memory of present or past club members.
Henderson Lions fund the scholarships through a number of annual fundraisers, including the Arts and Crafts Festival in Audubon State Park, the annual one-night live auction, a golf scramble and sale of lemon shake-ups at the Tri-Fest. The Lions’ next fundraising event is the Arts and Crafts Festival the first weekend in October.
The following is a list of the recipients:
- Summer Hazelwood- Given by Dr. Noel Canlas in honor of Aleisha Canlas.
- Brooklyn Burris- Given in honor of Howard Moran.
- Nicholis Belle-Given by Chuck and Donna Stinnitt.
- Madelyn Bennett-Given in memory of Col. James (Jim) Smith.
- Lorilei Duncan-Given in memory of Dr.Tony Strawn.
