Addie Lucille Nantz

 

Addie Lucille Nantz, age 97, of Henderson, KY, passed away at 9:40 p.m. on Monday, July 15, 2024, at Redbanks Nursing Home in Henderson under the care of St. Anthony’s Hospice.

 

Addie was a member of Bellfield Baptist Church. She worked at Bear Brand Hosiery for many years and became a homemaker after having children. In later years she was a caregiver for special needs adults. Addie enjoyed playing cards, games and drawing. She loved spending time tending to the flowers in her yard and was a talented mandolin player.

 

Addie was preceded in death by her parents Euriel and Elsie Stone, her husband Howard Nantz, daughter Deborah Speaks, son Howard Douglas Nantz, several brothers and sisters, and granddaughter Rachel Lewis.

 

Addie is survived by 4 sons: William D. “Danny” Nantz and wife Mary Jane of Henderson, KY, Dwight Nantz and wife Lisa of Henderson, KY, Damon Nantz and wife Julie of Henderson, KY and Donald Nantz and wife Twila of Newburgh, IN; daughter Doretha Dean Buckman and husband Jim of Grayville, IL; sisters-in-law  Peggy Nantz and Ruby Stone of Henderson, KY; 16 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, 21 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

 

Relatives and friends are invited to Addie’s Life Celebration from 10:00 a.m. until the service time on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at Benton-Glunt & Tapp Funeral Home in Henderson, KY. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home with Reverend Kenneth Foster officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Henderson, KY.

 

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Anthony’s Hospice, 2410 S. Green St., Henderson, KY, 42420 and Redbanks Nursing Home Activities Dept., 851 Kimsey Lane, Henderson, KY, 42420.

Reuben Anderson (R.A) Turner

Reuben Anderson (R.A) Turner, age 93, of Henderson, KY, went to his eternal home with his Lord and Savior, and met his friends and family who had gone before him in Hallelujah Square at noon on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at Ascension St. Vincent in Evansville, IN. He was surrounded by his loved ones.

 

R.A. was born in Butler County, KY on June 10, 1931.  He later moved to Hebbardsville, KY where he met his future bride. The first time he saw her he said he was going to marry her.

 

R.A. was preceded in death by the love of his life, Doris Cox Turner; son, Robert Alan Turner; grandson, Daniel Lee Turner; parents, Acie and Artie Turner; siblings, Gracey Turner, Herbert Turner, Lora Turner, James Turner, Dimple Turner, Erdest Turner, Ora Turner, Elta Saling, and Elsie Byrd.

 

R.A. is survived by his 3 children: Donnie (Betty) Turner of Hebbardsville, KY, Jo Ann (Roy) Brock of Evansville, IN, Tina (Randy) Durham of Henderson, KY; 4 grandchildren: Jamie (Araya) Phelps of Hebbardsville, KY, Kristy (Bart) Rowland of Ocala, FL, Nicole (Brad) Butler of Corydon, KY, and Chris (Jenny) Durham of Henderson, KY; 12 great grandchildren: Nate (Emma) Phelps, Grace (Jack) Miller, Anna Clay Rowland, Sally Rowland, Merick White, Noah Butler, Payton Butler, Hunter Durham, Dallas White, Adelyn Durham, Reid Phelps, and Lucie Bell; siblings Joyce VanBussum and Charles Turner; as well as many nieces and nephews.

 

R.A. was a teenager when his dad passed away. He immediately went to work at a sawmill to provide for his mom and siblings. From there, he would spend his life never shying away from a hard day’s work. He worked many years at Jasper American Manufacturing Company. When the plant moved out of town, he farmed for Reynolds Metal and Local Farmers. R.A. loved the Lord and was a member of Gilleyville Community Church and an honorary member of Countryview General Baptist Church and Fairview General Baptist Church. He adored his family and found joy in his many friendships. He enjoyed raising a large garden & farm animals and was skilled in woodworking. His true passion was hunting & fishing, especially coon hunting.

 

Relatives and friends are invited to R.A.’s Life Celebration from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 18, 2024, and again on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at Benton-Glunt & Tapp Funeral Home in Hendeson, KY. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home with Reverend Dan Book and Reverend Billy Hatfield officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery in Hebbardsville, KY.

 

Pallbearers will be Jamie Phelps, Chris Durham, Bart Rowland, Brad Butler, Nate Phelps, Merick White.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Hunter Durham and Reid Phelps.
