Jerry Lynn Pearcy
Jerry Lynn Pearcy, age 75, of Henderson, KY, passed away at 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at his home.
Jerry came from a long line of farmers. He grew up driving tractors and growing crops. And like so many before him, this was his intended path.
But God had other plans.
Shocking everyone who knew him, including himself, Jerry became a preacher. With Gale by his side, Jerry pastored many local churches making wonderful friends along the way. He preached simply and with humor. Much to the chagrin of his children, his sermons often included funny anecdotes from their childhood. And they certainly did their best to give him many, many stories to choose from.
Jerry traveled the world to places like Russia and Honduras to preach the gospel. But he was most at home in his beloved country churches.
In 1989, Jerry discovered his favorite title – he became ‘Paw’. His heart melted more with the birth of each new grandchild. These children inherited his love for pranks, and would put ribbons in his hair and painted his nails while he napped. They gifted him Barbie dolls at Christmas, which are still proudly displayed in his room.
Fishing was one of his favorite hobbies. He could often be found at the Green River with his own dad fishing, cooking and concocting fish stories.
When diabetes made it difficult to leave the house, he still spent hours on the phone laughing and talking with friends. He loved to leave rambling voice mails and would even sing songs and change the lyrics.
Eventually, Gale took on the difficult role of caregiver setting an example of love and service to everyone who knew them. Jerry often told everyone what a lucky man he was and it was true.
He wanted this said – “Remember to live, love, and forgive. I’ll see you again in Heaven.”
And to honor another request, “By the way, there’s a red truck for sale!”.
We love you dad, Paw, and friend. You know the stories we are telling are epic!
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents Russell “Buddy” and Joyce Pearcy and his granddaughter PresLeigh D. Pearcy.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years Gale Pearcy of Henderson, KY; daughter Sharon Mitchell of Henderson, KY; sons Joey Pearcy and wife Mendy and Russ Pearcy both of Henderson, KY; sisters Paulette Cobb and Candy Risley both of Henderson, KY; grandchildren: Amber Priest, Kasey Priest, Phillip Pearcy, Pryce Pearcy, Tanner Pearcy and Andersyn Pearcy; great-grandchildren: Aubree Williams, Grayson Malone and Kayson Malone.
