More than 35 Henderson-area nonprofit organizations will be receiving grants from the Henderson Lions Club in upcoming meetings set for early August.
Representatives of the groups will be on hand at the Lions’ August 6 and August 13 meetings to receive their grant checks. The money was raised through club fundraising activities conducted over the past year.
Here is a list of the groups that will be receiving grants: Henderson County Diabetes Coalition, Salvation Army, Henderson Recreations Association, Bluegrass in the Park, Boys and Girls Club of Henderson, Brain Injury Adventure Camp, HCC College Foundation, Distinguished Young Women of Henderson County, East End Community Table, Elevate, Experiencing Autism Together, Father Bradley Shelter for Women and Children, Habitat for Humanity, Harbor House Christian Men’s Center, Healing Reins of Kentucky, Henderson AKZ Initiative, Henderson Arts Alliance, Henderson Christian Community Outreach, Henderson City/County Rescue Squad, Henderson County Homeless Coalition, Happy Feet, Henderson Juneteenth Celebration, Henderson Education Foundation, Henderson Leo Club, Henderson Music Preservation, Holy Name School, Junior Achievement of Henderson, Marsha’s Place Pregnancy Resource Center, Matthew 25 Aids Services, North Middle School Youth Services Center, Ohio Valley Art League, Riverview School, Sons of Henderson, South Middle School Youth Services Center, St. Anthony’s Hospice, Volunteer and Information Center.
Lions raise money each year through a one-night live auction, The Arts and Crafts Festival at Audubon State Park, a gold scramble and sale of lemon shake-ups at the Tri-fest.
The meetings begin at noon on Aug. 6 and Aug. 13 in the Community Room at the Henderson County Public Library on Water Street in Henderson. The meeting is welcomed and encouraged to attend either of both meetings.
