Charles T. “Chuck” Banken, Jr.

 

On Tuesday, September 3, 2024, Charles T. “Chuck” Banken, Jr., age 89, of Henderson, KY, joined his wife Jeannette of nearly 68 years in their Heavenly home.

 

Chuck and Jeannette were married on September 29, 1956. Together they raised three daughters and enjoyed their many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Together they spent their retirement years traveling and making memories. Chuck retired from Alcoa at 60 years old. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, gardening, traveling, and fishing in his backyard.

 

Chuck was very involved in politics and ran for several offices including running for Henderson County Judge in the 90’s. In 1972 and 1974 he ran for Kentucky Congress and won the Republican Primary Nomination 1st District. He met two United States Presidents in Washington while campaigning.

 

He served with honor in the military. He was a United States Air Force mechanic and served in the United States Naval Reserves. He could fix almost anything broken and could build just about anything.

 

Chuck was preceded in death by his wife Jeannette, who passed away on August 27, 2024, his parents Thelma and Therman Banken, a brother and a sister.

 

He is survived by his three daughters: Robin Wathen, Theresa Steele, and Tracy Herron; grandchildren: Rebecca Skaggs, Joseph Wathen, Andrew McElfresh, and Megan McElfresh; and great-grandchildren: Devin Skaggs, Anna Skaggs, Tucker Skaggs, Genevieve Caballero, Guy McElfresh, and Bridget McElfresh. He is also survived by his sister Thelma Wilkins and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

 

Relatives and friends are invited to Chuck’s Life Celebration from 1:00 p.m. until the service time on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at Benton-Glunt & Tapp Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home with Reverend John Brumfiel officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Henderson, KY.  Military honors will be rendered by the American Legion Worsham Post #40.

Anna Louise Head

 

Anna Louise Head, age 85, of Robards, KY, born October 31, 1938, passed away on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at her home under the care of St. Anthony’s Hospice.

 

Anna was a lifelong member of Robards Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed being outdoors working in the garden, going to yard sales, refinishing furniture, and taking international trips with her “GIRLS”.  Anna was an intelligent and witty woman, often surprising her friends and family with her humor. She had many friends at the Henderson Gathering Place where she went daily. More than anything, Anna was an extraordinary mother to her three girls, mamaw to her many grandchildren and great grandchildren, and a dear friend to all.

 

Anna was preceded in death by her parents Harry and Euretha McLean, first husband Eugene Edwards, second husband Curtis Head, and grandson Landon Kenneth Rust.

 

Anna is survived by her children: Jeannie Staples and husband Wayne, Kim Brown and husband Jim, Jennifer Rust and husband Frank; brothers: Kenneth McLean, Donald McLean, and William “Bill” McLean; grandchildren: Davy Hinton, Mindy Wathen, Lindsey McCown, Zachary Staples, Lauren Rust, and Logan Rust; great-grandchildren: Sawyer, Adelyn, Evan, Anzlee, Acelynn, Hudson, Blair, and Case.

 

Relatives and friends are invited to Anna’s Life Celebration from 10:00 a.m. until the service time on Friday, September 6, 2024, at Benton-Glunt & Tapp Funeral Home in Henderson, KY. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Springdale Cemtery in Sebree, KY.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Anthony’s Hospice, 2410 S. Green Street, Henderson, KY, 42420.
