The Henderson County Colonels faced off against the Mayfield Cardinals on the road last night.

The Colonels would suffer their 4th loss of the season, 14-7 in double overtime against the Cardinals.

Colonel sophomore quarterback Jack Dalton did not attempt a single pass on the night. Senior running back Tony Burrus rushed 30 times for 158 yards a touchdown while sophomore quarterback Jack Dalton rushed 15 times with 13 rushing yards on the night.

Both teams had to endure the nasty weather last night between the strong wind gusts along with the rain pouring down all game long.

The Colonels as a team, had 177 yards rushing and 0 yards passing for a total of 177 yards of offense on the night. The Colonel’s defense allowed the Cardinals to have 123 yards rushing and 94 passing yards for a total of 217 yards of total offense on the night, as the Colonels forced 6 punts, 5 fumbles but only recovered one, and allowed the Cardinals to get 9 first downs. The Colonels had 6 penalties for 53 yards while the Cardinals had 5 penalties for 46 yards on the night.

The Colonels (2-4) will be on a bye week next Friday but will return the following week on the road to take on the McCracken County Mustangs (2-4) on Friday night, October 11th, with the kickoff set for 7:00 P.M in Paducah.
