Wathen Lane closure extended to November 27, 2024

HENDERSON, KY, November 4, 2024– In March 2024 the City of Henderson began the Wathen Lane roadway construction project in conjunction with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) and Yager Materials Corporation.

In October, the original contractor working on the project was sold to a company out of Lexington, KY.

Since that sale, the City has been notified by Hinkle Contracting Company, LLC the roadway closure that was originally scheduled to end on November 1st, 2024, has been extended to November 27th, 2024, at noon

The delay includes time for non-City utilities to be removed from the electric poles along the roadway. Once the utilities have been removed the contractor can relocate the power poles and complete the required grading work on the road.

The Wathen Lane roadway construction project, first announced in February 2024, includes the widening of Wathen Lane, installation of a waterline on the east side of the street, the building of curbs and gutters, as well as the building of an 8-foot-wide multi use path on the golf course side of the road.

Wathen Lane from Hillmont Drive to the driveway entrance of 6781 Wathen Lane is closed to all traffic. No local traffic is allowed through the construction site.
