The Lady Colonels suffered their first loss of the season, losing by 13 points against the Franklin Simpson Lady Wildcats, 63-50, at the Owensboro SportsCenter on Saturday night.
The leading scorers for the Lady Cats was LaReesha Cawthorn with 35 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 blocks while Lyniah Brown had 12 points. Vanessa Ray had 8 points and 5 rebounds while Kloie Smith had 8 points and 4 rebounds on the night.
The leading scorers for the Lady Colonels was A’Tylia Green with 16 points, 5 rebounds, 6 steals, and 3 assists while Brooklyn Gibson had 12 points. Addy Gish had 8 points and 3 assists while Allyson Rideout had 5 points and 4 rebounds. Rashia Cansler tallied 5 points while Anna Kemp scored 4 points and had 3 rebounds on the night.
The Lady Cats shot 11 for 15 (73%) from the free throw line to the Lady Colonels 5 for 8 (63%). The Lady Cats shot 2 for 6 (33%) from behind the three point line to the Lady Colonels 5 for 13 (39%). The Lady Cats had a total of 24 rebounds while the Lady Colonels had 15 total rebounds in the game. The Lady Colonels recorded 11 steals, 10 assists, and 0 blocks. The Lady Cats committed 13 turnovers to the Lady Colonels committing 16 turnovers on the night.
The Lady Colonels fall to (2-1) on the season while the Lady Cats improve to (3-0). The Lady Colonels next game is this Thursday night, December 12th, at home against the Christian County Lady Colonels at 7:30 P.M.
