One man died and two people were injured following a vehicle collision on Zion Road on Monday afternoon.
Henderson Police said officers were called to the area of Zion Road and Garden Mile Road at approximately 3:40 p.m. on February 10th for an accident with injuries.
The crash occurred when a full-size truck traveling eastbound on Zion crossed into the westbound lane and struck a passenger car head-on. The truck continued into a yard and onto a driveway. A total of three parked cars were damaged in the driveway.
Officers arrived and found the driver of a Chevy truck unconscious. CPR was performed on the driver, and he was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
He was pronounced deceased a short time later.
Two occupants in the passenger car were injured. Henderson Fire Department crews used specialty equipment to extract the driver. Both were taken to a hospital for treatment.
The initial investigation indicates the driver of the truck suffered a medical emergency and was incapacitated prior to the initial impact, according to HPD.
Per Kentucky law, drug and alcohol screenings will be conducted as part of the investigation. However, at this time, it does not appear they played a role in the crash, police said.
An HPD crash reconstructionist was called to the scene. The roadway was closed in each direction for about 3.5 hours while the crash was investigated.
The deceased driver’s information will be released once it has been confirmed by the Coroner’s Office.
