Hot Start Propels Colonels to District Title

The Colonels came away with a, 77-49, win against the Union County Braves in the 6th District Championship Game in Morganfield last night.

The Colonels with this District Championship have won 46 District Titles in program history.

The leading scorers for the Braves was Daishawn Curry with 12 points while Cameron Miller had 10 points, 12 rebounds, and 4 assists. Jayden Wilson had 6 points and 5 rebounds while Cortayvion Rapier had 6 points and 3 rebounds. Hayden Mills tallied 6 points while Jace Wilson added 4 points. Cale Johnson contributed 3 points while Gavyn Black had 2 points on the night.

The leading scorers for the Colonels was Cooper Davenport with 18 points and 5 rebounds while Xavion Johnson had 16 points, 4 assists, and 3 rebounds. Dwaine Moss scored 13 points, grabbed 3 rebounds, and recorded 6 steals and 4 assists while Lacon McKinney tallied 10 points and 4 rebounds. Elijah Suggs had 8 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 blocks while Amare Stewart had 5 points. Trajdon Davis added 3 points while Travis Little contributed 2 points. To round out the scoring, Kingston Shidler scored 2 points on the night.

The Braves shot 5 for 15 (33%) from the 3 point line to the Colonels 6 for 14 (43%). The Braves shot 12 for 17 (71%) from the free throw line to the Colonels 21 for 27 (78%). The Braves had a total of 27 rebounds while the Colonels had 29 total rebounds. The Colonels tallied 13 assists, 13 steals, and 5 blocks. The Braves committed 14 turnovers to the Colonels committing 7 turnovers on the night.

The Colonels improve to (22-6) on the season while Braves fall to (15-10).
