Hopkinsville, KY — April 7, 2025 – In the wake of the historic storm and flooding event that brought over
13.88 inches of rain—with some areas experiencing even higher totals—Hopkinsville and Christian County are
now focused on coordinated recovery and clean-up efforts.
Rainfall & Impact
Between April 3–5, Hopkinsville experienced record rainfall, with accumulation between 10 and 15 inches
across the area. Preliminary assessments are underway, though a complete picture of damage is still being
compiled. So far, the storm has impacted approximately:
- 150 homes
- 25 businesses
- 4 government buildings including Hopkinsville Police Department (HPD), Christian County Jail (CCJ),
Regional Crime Center (RCC), and the State Regional Driver’s License Office.
Local Response & Coordination
The response to this event has been a unified effort across local, regional, and state agencies, including:
- Emergency Management
- Law Enforcement
- Fire/EMS and Rescue
- Swift Water Rescue Teams
- High Axle Vehicle Operations
- Sandbag Operations that helped protect 80+ public assets across city and county property
“This was a team effort at every level,” said Randy Graham, Christian County Emergency Management
Director. “From city crews to state and federal resources, we’ve seen great coordination in protecting people and
property.”
Clean-Up & Debris Removal
The City of Hopkinsville has begun storm debris clean-up. Solid Waste crews are making rounds
throughout affected areas.
Residents are asked to separate debris into two piles at the curb:
- Furniture & Household Items – couches, chairs, mattresses, etc.
- Construction Debris – wood, carpet, sheetrock, insulation, etc.
Public Safety Reminder
Please do not drive around barricades or road closure signs.
They are in place to protect you. Some roads may remain unsafe for travel due to water damage or
debris. For your safety and the safety of others, follow all posted signage and detours.
Damage Reporting
Residents and business owners are strongly encouraged to document and report all damage. This is
vital for both local recovery and possible state or federal assistance.
