KY 2084 Demolition Work is Scheduled to Begin

Demolition work is expected to begin Monday, April 14, at the former KY 2084 interchange. Work on Monday and Tuesday will be behind existing lane closures.

Southbound US 41 at KY 2084 is expected to close overnight Wednesday, April 16 to accommodate the work. The closure is scheduled from 12 to 4 a.m. Short-term rolling closures are also expected 9 p.m. to 12 a.m. A signed detour will be in place.

There will be associated noise during the demolition work, and patience is requested from those in the area.

The work is happening at night to minimize impacts to motorists and to get the work done as quickly and as safely as possible.

The interchange is being removed and the area regraded. The KY 2084 interchange was too close to the KY 351 interchange to meet interstate standards.

Look Ahead: Upcoming Traffic Changes

Airline Road Bridge Closure

The Airline Road overpass bridge at US 41 is scheduled to close on or after Monday, April 21 and is anticipated to be closed until this summer. Crews are completing extensive work and replacing the superstructure, which includes the beams and bridge deck. Crews will also make upgrades to the barrier and guardrail. The work should be complete in August.

The signed detour route includes Garden Mile Drive, Airline Road, Adams Lane, KY 2084, KY 351/2nd Street.

US 41 under the Airline Road bridge is expected to close overnight Monday, April 21 and Tuesday, April 22. The closures are scheduled 12 to 4 a.m. Limited rolling closures may also be needed.

Adams Lane Bridge – Expected to Reopen

Significant improvements are also being made at the Adams Lane overpass bridge over US 41. Work started in December, and the bridge is expected to reopen by mid to late May. When Adams Lane reopens, it will provide another alternate route during the Airport Road bridge closure.

US 60 Traffic Shift

Traffic will shift and begin using new pavement on the roundabouts under construction at the new US 60 interchange. Traffic will be utilizing the outside lane of all three roundabouts.  Shifting traffic to the new pavement allows crews more room to work as they continue to build the new US 60 interchange with three roundabouts in place. Traffic is expected to shift onto new roadway around Thursday, April 24.

All schedules are dependent on weather and other factors and are subject to change.
