Henderson Police have arrested an Evansville woman accused of threatening to cut motorists with a box cutter.
Police said they received several reports regarding an armed woman approaching motorists around U.S. 60 and Watson Lane at around 2:15 p.m. Thursday.
During the investigation, officers were told that Jacqueline Poiles, 31, of Evansville, had entered a utility worker’s truck and displayed a box cutter with the blade exposed.
Poiles told the worker to “drive.” The worker drove a short distance before stopping and jumping out of the truck.
While the worker called 911, Poiles walked away from the truck. Additional 911 calls were received from the area of U.S.60 and Watson Lane stating Poiles approached other drivers while armed with the box cutter and demanding a ride.
Officers located Poiles on the lot of a nearby gas station. Poiles was engaged with another driver while displaying the box cutter when officers arrived.
Poiles was taken into custody without incident. She was lodged in the Henderson County Detention Center on the following charges:
- KRS 509.020 Unlawful Imprisonment 1st Degree
- KRS 508.050 Menacing
She is being held at the jail on a $5,000 bond.
