Henderson Police Department credits proactive patrolling with leading to the recovery of a stolen vehicle and an arrest of a Sturgis man.
At 1:55 a.m. Thursday, an officer was patrolling near Green and Second Streets. The officer did a routine license plate check on a 2014 Hyundai that was driving in the area.
The check revealed the license plate had been entered in the National Crime Information Center database on June 11 when the owner reported the car stolen, according to a news release.
The officer conducted a traffic stop and took the driver, Freddie Nash, 59, of Sturgis, into custody without incident. The vehicle was returned to the owner.
Nash was booked into the Henderson County Detention Center on the following charges:
- KRS 514.110 (3) (B) Receiving Stolen Property
- KRS 186.620 (2) Operating on a Suspended or Revoked Operators License
Presumption of Innocence Notice: The fact that a person has been arrested or charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in a court of law.
