Temporary Traffic Signals Removed at U.S. 60

Henderson, KY (July 18, 2025) – The temporary traffic signals in place on U.S. 60 are being removed. The signals will be removed today, restoring two-way traffic at the CSX overpass bridge near the new U.S. 60 interchange under construction.

With the signals removed, it’s important for drivers to slow down and observe the posted work zone speed limit of 35 miles per hour, yield to traffic in the roundabouts, and observe posted signs.

Rules of the Roundabouts

  • Drivers need to remember a few key steps for using the roundabouts:
Slow down and be ready to yield.
Traffic approaching the roundabout (through US 60 or from a side road) must yield to traffic already in the roundabout.
Do not stop within the roundabout.

Roundabouts are proven to improve safety while improving efficiency and keeping traffic moving. There are about 10,000 roundabouts in use in the United States. Federal highway
statistics show roundabouts reduce fatal crashes by 90%, reduce injury crashes by 75%, and reduce all crashes by 37%.

What to Expect

The U.S. 60 interchange remains in temporary configuration with one lane open in each direction and through the roundabouts. The new interchange is expected to open in its final configuration with two lanes open to traffic by early fall.
