Bridge Project Planned Near Stanley in Daviess County Later this Month

OWENSBORO, Ky. (August 14, 2025) – A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet will begin a bridge replacement project on U.S. 60 in northwestern Daviess County, near the community of Stanley, later this month.

The work is expected to result in traffic delays through the end of the year, according to a news release.

Construction is scheduled to start Monday, August 25, 2025, on the bridge over Katie Meadow Slough, just southeast of Stanley. During the project, U.S. 60 will be reduced to one lane between the 5.19-mile point and Wimsatt Road (5.38-mile point).

Recent inspections found deterioration in the bridge’s support structure, making a full replacement necessary to avoid imposing weight restrictions. Built in 1950, the 75-year-old bridge carries more than 2,500 vehicles daily and serves as a vital connection between Daviess and Henderson counties.

Because of the bridge’s current design, the contractor will replace the structure one side at a time. This approach will allow one lane of traffic to remain open throughout the project. Motorists should expect alternating traffic flows controlled by flaggers or temporary traffic signals until the work is complete.

The project is scheduled for completion just before Christmas.
