Charles “Buddy” Eugene Van Bussum
Charles “Buddy” Eugene Van Bussum, age 64, of Hebbardsville, KY, passed away at 11:22 a.m. on Thursday, November 5, 2025, at Norton’s Hospital in Louisville, KY.
Buddy was a 1979 Henderson County High School graduate. He was a member of Gillyville Community Church and served as the assistant pastor. He worked at Henderson Hosiery Mill before closing and was a warehouse employee for Sisco Cardboard Company. Although Buddy never had children of his own, he very much-loved them. He was a jokester and enjoyed teasing Eli and Weston Lawrie among others. He loved watching cowboy shows and movies; his favorite was anything John Wayne related. Buddy was very interested in the history of the Civil War and learning about it, especially when it involved the family. He was an officer in the Sons of Confederacy Henderson Chapter. He had a big collection of baseball cards, and his favorite teams were the St. Louis Cardinals and New York Yankees. He also was a UK basketball and Henderson Colonels fan. He supported the Paralyzed Veteran’s foundation and St. Joseph’s Lakota Indian Children’s School.
Buddy was preceded in death by his mother Joyce Van Bussum, his maternal grandparents Acie and Artie Turner, and his paternal grandparents Mayer and Tina Van Bussum.
Buddy is survived by his father Mayer Van Bussum of Hebbardsville, KY; sisters Shirley Van Bussum of Henderson, KY and Linda Van Bussum of Hebbardsville, KY; brother Brad Van Bussum (Kelley) of Cairo, KY; and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to Buddy’s Life Celebration from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday and from 12:00 p.m. until service time on Wednesday at Benton-Glunt & Tapp Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at the funeral home with Brother Danny Greene officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery in Henderson County, KY.

James Dorris Hagan
James Dorris Hagan, age 85, of Henderson, KY, passed away on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at Redbanks Nursing Home.
Dorris graduated with the class of 1958 from St. Vincent’s Academy in Union County. He worked at Whirlpool Corporation for more than four decades. Dorris was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. If he wasn’t at work, you could find him in the woods. More than anything, Dorris loved spending time with his family.
Dorris was preceded in death by his parents Linus and Vretta Hagan; wife Barbara Jane Hagan; his daughter Tina Marie Hagan; brothers: Robert L. Hagan, Gary Hagan, and Thomas P. Hagan; nieces Renie Freeman and Debbie Hagan.
He is survived by his sister Janet Kalichun of Henderson, KY, his brother-in-law Jerry Burton (Kathleen) of Henderson, KY, and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to offer a heartfelt thank you to Redbanks for the excellent service they provided and to his closest friend, caregiver and brother-in-law, Jerry Burton. He and Dorris shared a loyal and longstanding relationship that spanned almost 5 decades.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Henderson, KY. Burial will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Waverly, KY.
