Mary Lee McCormick Duncan Lawton, age 83, of Henderson, KY, passed away on Thursday, January 1,
2026, at home surrounded by her loved ones under the care of St. Anthony’s Hospice.
Mary Lee was born on November 17, 1942, to Calvin and Margaret Stanley McCormick. She was baptized at
a young age at Bellfield Baptist Church and later joined Community Baptist Church in Henderson. Mary Lee
attended Robards and Niagara schools and graduated from Henderson County High School in 1960. She was
a Kentucky Colonel and was a United States House of Representatives Field Representative for
Congressman Carroll Hubbard for 17 years. Mary Lee loved her family more than anything. They were her life
and she was blessed for having them in her life.
In addition to her parents, Mary Lee was preceded in death by her sister Sandra K. Wilkerson and her
husband Reverend Kenny Wilkerson; nephew Mark Wilkerson; and her husband and love of her life, L.B. “Gip”
Lawton who passed away on October 20, 2007.
Mary Lee is survived by her daughter Deborah “Debbie” Duncan Hendricks (Richard “Rick”); son Randy Lee
Duncan; grandchildren: Chelsey Wilson (Chase), Courtney Wathen, Josh Hendricks (Danielle), Zachary
Wathen (Kiana), Shelby Stinson (Matt), Kody Duncan (Breanna), and Hallie Duncan; great-grandchildren:
Adalyn, Paisley, Parker, Avery, Reid, Luke, Everleigh, Arlo, and Reagan; as well as a host of nieces, nephews,
cousins, and friends.
The family would like to offer a special thank you to Dr. David Schultz and Dr. Leslie Brown, as well as the
nurses and caregivers, and the excellent team at St. Anthony’s Hospice, especially Stephany Gibson-Wright.
Relatives and friends are invited to Mary Lee’s Life Celebration from 11:00 a.m. until service time on Monday,
January 5, 2026, at Benton-Glunt & Tapp Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on
Monday at the funeral home with Brother Ron Gish officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens
in Henderson, KY.
