The Henderson County Colonels picked up a 53-38 road victory over Evansville Harrison on Friday night.
Henderson took a 16-11 lead after the first quarter behind eight early points and three rebounds from Zayden Martin. The Colonels extended the advantage to 26-19 at halftime and pushed the margin to 43-27 after three, sparked by eight third-quarter points and two rebounds from Braden Williams off the bench.
Henderson controlled the glass, out-rebounding the Warriors 28-22, and took care of the basketball with just eight turnovers compared to Harrison’s 12.
Martin and Williams led the way with 12 points and five rebounds apiece, with Williams’ production coming off the bench. Amare Stewart finished with 10 points and five rebounds, while Xavion Johnson added six points and five rebounds. Jarren Byrum chipped in six points off the bench, knocking down a pair of three-pointers. Wyatt Townsend also connected from deep, and Travis Little highlighted the fourth quarter with a breakaway dunk.
Henderson shot 6-of-20 from three-point range and went 1-of-3 at the free-throw line. Harrison finished 2-of-10 from beyond the arc and 8-of-13 at the stripe.
The Colonels improve to 9-3 on the season and return to action Saturday at 4 p.m. against Taylor County (9-5) at Bowling Green High School as part of the German American Bank Shootout.
