The Henderson County Lady Colonels earned a 53-43 victory over Mercy Academy Saturday afternoon at Bowling Green High School’s German American Bank Shootout.
Henderson fell behind 9-2 early, but responded with a dominant 21-0 run to seize control. Mercy held a slim 9-7 lead after the first quarter before Henderson took a 28-16 advantage into halftime. The Lady Colonels led 38-33 after three and then put the game away by scoring the first nine points of the fourth quarter.
A’Tylia Green led the way with 16 points. Callie Burnett added eight, while Addy Gish finished with seven. Kenley Evans scored six, Bella Estabrook and Maggee Melvin chipped in five apiece, Nevaeh Dixon had four, and JaNyla Locher rounded out the scoring with two.
With the win, Henderson improves to 7-6 on the season and returns to action Monday night at 7 p.m. on the road at Mt. Carmel (IL).
