JoRetta “Joey” Minton
JoRetta “Joey” Minton, age 75, of Smith Mills, KY, passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at Walnut Creek Memory Care Center in Evansville, IN.
Joey worked for the Gleaner from the age of 17 until she retired at 52. After retirement she drove a school bus for Henderson County Schools. Joey was a game enthusiast but especially playing cards with friends. She was a very social person and often the life of the party. When she became “Mimi” all of her focus and attention went to her grandchildren. She was the most loved toy the kids ever had.
Joey was preceded in death by her parents Royce and Betty O’Nan, her husband Rick Minton, and her brother Harold O’Nan.
Joey is survived by her daughter Julie Parks (Brian) of Evansville, IN; son Josh Minton (Ashley) of Henderson, KY; sisters: Phylis Hudson of Goodlettsville, TN, Cathryn Whitmore of Huntsville, AL, Norma Fruit of Henderson, KY, and Regina Benson of Henderson, KY; and 3 grandchildren: Carson Parks, Holden Minton, and Abel Minton; as well as her companion Lee Allee of Corydon, KY and her sister-in-life Brenda Crawford of Smith Mills, KY.
Relatives and friends are invited to Joey’s Life Celebration from 12:00 p.m. until service time on Sunday, January 11, 2026, at Benton-Glunt & Tapp Funeral Home in Henderson, KY. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Walnut Creek Memory Care Center for the excellent care that was given to Joey.
