The Henderson County Lady Colonels picked up a 49-36 home victory over Bowling Green Saturday afternoon at Colonel Gym, improving to 10-6 on the season.
The game was tied 8-8 after the first quarter before Henderson took control with a strong second period, building a 28-17 halftime lead. The Lady Colonels continued to pull away in the second half, leading 42-23 after three behind their relentless defensive pressure.
Henderson forced Bowling Green into 26 turnovers while committing just nine of its own. The Purples held the edge on the glass, out-rebounding Henderson 36-20.
Henderson finished 11-of-17 at the free-throw line and 2-of-14 from three-point range. Bowling Green went 2-of-10 from the stripe and 4-of-10 from beyond the arc.
A’Tylia Green led the Lady Colonels with 13 points and six rebounds. Addy Gish added 11 points and five rebounds, including a 7-of-8 effort at the free-throw line. Jersey Gardner scored nine points, JaNyla Locher finished with six, Callie Burnett and Maggee Melvin each had four, and Kenley Evans chipped in two.
Henderson County (10-6) is back in action Tuesday night at 7 p.m. on the road at Daviess County (13-2).
