The Henderson County Lady Colonels picked up a Region 2 road victory Tuesday night, defeating Christian County 52-40.
The game was tied 10-10 after the first quarter before Christian County took a 23-20 lead into halftime. Henderson seized control in the third quarter, outscoring the Christian 21-13 to take a 41-36 advantage after three. Maggee Melvin sparked the run with eight points in the quarter, knocking down a pair of three-pointers, while Addy Gish added seven points, including a three of her own.
Henderson’s defense took over in the fourth quarter, limiting Christian County to just one made field goal as the Lady Colonels pulled away for the 12-point win.
A’Tylia Green led the way with 18 points. Gish finished with 13, Melvin had eight, and JaNyla Locher added five. Callie Burnett and Kenley Evans each chipped in four.
With the win, Henderson County improves to 12-7 and returns home Friday night to host Union County at 6 p.m.
