DAWSON SPRINGS, Ky. (February 24, 2026) – A Dawson Springs man was killed after he was struck by a vehicle while bicycling in Hopkins County.
Hopkins County Dispatch contacted Kentucky State Police Post 2 Madisonville at 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18 to investigate a fatal collision involving a vehicle versus pedestrian near the 4400 block of Charleston Road in Dawson Springs.
A preliminary Investigation indicates that a pickup truck traveling north bound on Charleston Road entered a second lane in attempt to pass another north bound vehicle.
The north bound pickup truck struck a south bound bicycle rider identified as David Baggott, 49, of Dawson Springs. The Hopkins County Coroner pronounced Baggott dead.
The collision remains under investigation by Detective Jacob Stephens of the Kentucky State Police.
