The City of Henderson Parks and Recreation Department will close the basketball courts and playground equipment in its parks to public use as of 5 p.m. Friday, March 27, as a precaution and response to the COVID-19 crisis.
Since basketball can be a contact sport that does not support “social distancing,” city administration has deemed it wise to close the courts until the threat has passed.
Also, playground equipment, unless used responsibly, could also be considered a means of transmission for the virus. Playgrounds also will reopen once the threat has passed.
Parks remain open for passive uses i.e. walking & jogging, for the time being.
