Kentucky State Police to Increase Highway Safety Efforts During Operation C.A.R.E.

Kentucky State Police is participating in Operation C.A.R.E. (Crash Awareness and Reduction Effort) through St. Patrick’s Day.

Operation C.A.R.E., organized by the International Association of Chiefs of Police, is designed to increase public awareness and enforcement aimed at dangerous driving behaviors that contribute to serious and fatal crashes. During the campaign, KSP troopers will conduct enhanced patrols throughout the region, intended to remind motorists that safe driving decisions can save lives.

KSP encourages motorists to travel responsibly and remain aware during the upcoming spring travel season:

  • Stay Focused on Driving – Keep your attention on the road and avoid distractions such as cell phone use.
  • Buckle Up – Seatbelts remain one of the most effective ways to reduce injuries and fatalities in crashes.
  • Never Drive Impaired – Alcohol and drugs can affect your ability to drive safely. Plan ahead and arrange for a sober ride if needed.
  • Report Unsafe Driving – If you observe suspected criminal activity, contact your nearest KSP Post.
