Henderson County's Myron Wright Signs with Muskingum Football

For Henderson County Colonels standout Myron Wright, the moment he signed his letter to continue his football career at Muskingum University marked the beginning of an exciting new chapter.

Wright officially committed to the Division III program located in New Concord, Ohio, making his college plans official while surrounded by family, teammates, and supporters who helped him reach this milestone.

“It was very exciting,” Wright said after signing. “I’m ready for the next journey.”

A Perfect Fit in Ohio

Wright said Muskingum quickly stood out during the recruiting process because it reminded him of the environment he experienced at Henderson County.

“It’s a small school, but it’s just like Henderson County,” Wright explained. “They’ve got everything and all the support I need.”

That sense of support and familiarity made the decision feel right, even though the opportunity means leaving home to pursue his college career.

“There were a couple other options,” Wright said, “but I really wanted to get far away from here and shine out.”

A New Role on the Field

During his high school career, Wright made his mark along the defensive line and at the edge. At the next level, however, Muskingum’s coaching staff has a different plan for the versatile defender.

“They’ve got big plans for me,” Wright said. “I’ve been playing D-line and at the edge, but now they’re moving me to free safety. I’m really excited for that.”

The position change highlights Wright’s athleticism and versatility as he prepares to transition to the college game.

Looking Ahead Academically

While football played a major role in Wright’s college choice, he’s also looking forward to his academic future. He plans to study business and engineering while attending Muskingum.

A Moment of Gratitude

Signing day was also a time for Wright to reflect on the people who helped him along the way.

“First, I want to thank God,” Wright said. “Then my family for supporting me to get here and the community. I love it.”

Advice for the Next Generation

As one of the latest Colonels to earn a chance to play at the collegiate level, Wright also had a message for younger players hoping to follow a similar path.

“Keep grinding, no matter what anybody says,” he said. “Keep your head up, keep working, and put God first. You’ll be good.”

With his signing complete, Wright now turns his focus to the next step—continuing his football journey in Ohio while representing Henderson County at the collegiate level.
