FRANKFORT, Ky. (March 19, 2026) – A former Magoffin County Middle School teacher has pleaded guilty in connection with using Snapchat to send illicit pictures to a 14-year-old student and encouraging her to have sex with him.
Jordan Cobb, 32, pleaded guilty to one count of procuring the use of a minor by electronic means and one count of harassing communications.
According to charges filed in Magoffin Circuit Court, in May 2023, Cobb used Snapchat to communicate with a 14-year-old student. He sent pictures of his genitalia and messages to the student, encouraging her to have sexual intercourse with him.
A year later, he sent threatening messages to the same victim through Facebook.
Under the terms of Thursday’s plea agreement, Cobb agreed to a five-year sentence and will be ineligible for probation. The sentence will run concurrently with federal charges related to the same investigation.
“It takes extraordinary courage for a young person to speak out—especially when it means standing up to someone in power. I commend this brave young woman and our law enforcement and prosecutor partners who worked to ensure this predator is behind bars,” said Attorney General Russell Coleman.
Kentucky State Police investigated the case. Assistant Attorney General Ramsey Dallam prosecuted the case on behalf of the Commonwealth.
Cobb will be sentenced June 5th.
