A man has been arrested on a false reporting charge after allegedly stabbing himself and trying to pass it off as an assault.
Evansville Police Department Officer responded to Mercy Urgent Care in the 700 block of River Road on Tuesday morning for an assault in progress.
Officers arrived and located a man, Zachary T. Wilder, 35, suffering from a stab wound to his leg. Wilder was transported to a local hospital for treatment for a non-life-threatening stab wound.
The investigation quickly revealed that Wilder stabbed himself while he was behind the building.
After being released from the hospital Wilder was transported to the Vanderburgh County Jail where he was charged with false reporting.
