Robert Pruitt - Henderson City Commission Candidate

Candidate Questionnaire

What is your name: Robert Pruitt

What office are you seeking?  City Commissioner

What is your age: 66

Please provide family background. I have been married to the love of my life Lillie Pruitt for 45 years. We have two wonderful children, a daughter Breasha Pruitt and a son Robert Noland Pruitt Jr.

What is your educational background? I am a graduate from Henderson County High School Class of 1977. I have a carpentry and electrical certificate. I worked for Gamco Products for over 30 years, and I am a real estate investor. I am very active in the community as well as in my church.

Have you been elected to a political office previously? I was first elected to the City Commission position in 2008 and have served as city commissioner for 7 terms, 14 years.

What is your professional background? My experience includes working as a real estate investor, a 7-term Henderson City Councilman. I have served on several boards, including the GRADD Board, audit board for the City, the Civil Service Board, and the Hoge Farm Board, and some others.

Why are you running for office?  I am seeking re-election to the City Commissioner office to continue to be the voice of all families represented in Henderson. I govern helping Henderson be the best place to live, raise a family and not struggle financially.

If elected to office, what would be your top three goals?

  1. Affordability – by continuing to bring in high pay jobs like Pratt and keeping property taxes and utilities low.
  2. Affordable Housing – finding partners to build affordable housing is very important, continuing to partner with Habitat for Humanity, other government funded opportunities, as well as others who would like to invest and build affordable housing.
  3. Continue to give the youth activities and possibilities in order for them to have a great childhood possible so that one day they will want to return to their hometown and live. A couple of examples are the new Sportsplex, and the plans to revamp Anthony Brooks Park.

A major accomplishment during my time has been governing to keep taxes and utilities low. I took action to recover millions of dollars from Big Rivers money that rightfully belonged to the people of Henderson and ensured it was returned to our community.

Keeping taxes and utilities low was a major priority because of the financial impact families would have faced If Big Rivers had taken over.

Why should people vote for you?

I am asking the citizens of Henderson to vote for me because I care, I give my time to their concerns, frustrations and questions and have proven to do so term after term.

When the community calls me, stops me in the grocery store or the hardware store, or approaches me while I’m out with my family or cutting grass, I listen. I give people my time. They trust me with their concerns, their questions, and their needs because they know I take their safety, stability, and the quality of life seriously. Their families matter to me, and so do they. I govern based on what is best for the people of Henderson, what supports them, strengthens them, and benefits their families, not what harms them. Henderson can count on me.

Please feel free to add any additional comment:

It has been an honor to serve the citizens of Henderson for the past seven terms. I am asking for your vote again this year so I can continue working for you, protecting your interests, and helping Henderson remain a strong, safe, and thriving place for all families.

Always remember, Commissioner Pruitt still has your back!
