Klaas Named New County High Principal

Henderson County Schools has named Christian Klaas as the next Principal of Henderson County High School.

Klaas brings more than 15 years of experience in education and school leadership. He currently serves as the Green Unit Principal at HCHS and has previously held roles including Principal at Hanson Elementary, Director of Secondary Instruction for Hopkins County Schools, and Assistant Principal at Madisonville North Hopkins High School.

He holds degrees from Murray State University, along with certifications in instructional leadership, social studies education, and instructional technology.

At Henderson County High School, Klaas has overseen English and Social Studies PLCs, teacher evaluations, student discipline, and Title I programs. He has also participated in statewide leadership initiatives, including the KDE Principal Partnership Program and Cognitive Coaching.

Klaas says he is “humbled and honored” by the opportunity, adding that it’s a privilege to lead a high‑achieving school and that he is committed to the continued success of all students and staff.

He will replace current principal Amber Thomas, who was recently named Director of Human Resources for Henderson County Schools.

Superintendent Dr. Bob Lawson praised the selection, calling Klaas “a colonel through and through” and expressing confidence in the school’s continued pursuit of excellence under his leadership.

Klaas will officially step into the role as the new principal of Henderson County High School this summer.
