A former Henderson County High School teacher has been charged with sexual abuse.
Henderson Police Department previously reported that the agency had opened an investigation at Henderson County High School involving a staff member and a student.
Police said Rachel Clement, 29, was taken into custody on Tuesday after being arraigned in Henderson County Circuit Court.
Clement is listed as a science teacher at HCHS on Henderson County School District’s website. However, a district official told WFIE that Clement’s contract was not renewed and she will no longer work for Henderson County Schools.
Clement was charged with first-degree sexual abuse; two counts of unlawful use of electronic means originating or received within the commonwealth to induce a minor to engage in sexual or other prohibited activities; and tampering with physical evidence.
Clement was booked at the Henderson County Detention Center but was released on a $10,000 bond. Her next court date is listed at Oct. 12.
This is an ongoing investigation. Anyone with information can contact the Henderson Police Department Investigation Division at 270-831-1295.
